Bucharest Arch of Triumph The Arch of Triumph

Inaugurated on the 1st of December 1936, it glorifies the bravery of the Romanian soldiers who fought in the Fist World War, celebrating at the same time the 1918 Union of Romanian provinces.

Designed by the Romanian architect Petre Antonescu, the monument is 27 m high only 4 m lower than The Arch of Triumph in Paris.

The Village Museum in Bucharest The Village Museum

It is one of the world's most interesting ethnographical parks in open air. Founded in 1936 by Dimitrie Gusti following a Royal Decree, this museum illustrates the perpetual spring of surprising originality.

The house and house holding samples gathered from all regions of the country are exhibited according to ethnographical areas. Here you can see 50 complete homesteads, churches, windmills and even sunken houses from rural Romania.

The Palace of Parliament in Bucharest The Palace of Parliament

It represents the grandest administrative construction in Europe. It covers 265.000 sqm interior surface, being the second biggest in the world after the Pentagon building in Washington. It is also the third in the world considering its volume, after Cape Canaveral building, USA and after the Quetzalcoatl pyramid in Mexico.

The Cotroceni Palace in Bucharest The Cotroceni Palace

It is the official residence of the President of Romania. The palace was built in 1888 by french architect Paul Gottereau for King Ferdinand I of Romania, near an old monastery dated 1679.

In 1977, Nicolae Ceausescu made the palace a guest house and the old church of Cantacuzino was demolished in 1985.

The Romanian Atheneum in Bucharest The Romanian Athaeneum

It was the headquarters of Romanian Athenaeum Society which had as purpose spreading cultural and scientific information. The projects of the building are made by Albert Galleron (France) and it was inaugurated in February 1888.
